A compact building wire can simplify a distributor’s range, but only when the marking matches the installation. THHN is a familiar choice for dry-location conduit wiring; the important buying decision is whether the order needs THHN alone or a separately verified THHN/THWN-2 dual rating.

Inside the cable
A typical copper THHN conductor has a PVC insulation layer and a thin nylon covering. Copper may be solid or stranded, depending on size and the selected construction. PVC provides electrical insulation; nylon provides a protective surface that helps the conductor pass through a raceway. It is not a multicore sheathed cable, and the nylon covering is not armour. Outside diameter, strand count and insulation wall must come from the selected size drawing.

Where it is used
Importers encounter THHN in lighting circuits, receptacle branches, distribution panels and commercial feeders installed in recognized wiring systems. A distributor serving panel and electrical contractors may need several colours and both solid and stranded options. Matching spool lengths and colour quantities to actual sales demand is as important commercially as choosing the conductor size.

Ratings and selection points
THHN is associated with a 90°C dry-location insulation rating. That number does not make every termination or circuit a 90°C design. A wet route requires an appropriate wet-location marking such as THWN-2; appearance alone cannot establish it. For conduit fill, use finished-wire diameter rather than copper diameter. For procurement, ask for conductor resistance, insulation thickness and a proposed print legend against the same drawing revision.

A clearer factory RFQ
For a distributor replenishment programme, separate 12 AWG solid black, white and green into individual order lines. State length per spool, quantity per colour, dry-location THHN or required THHN/THWN-2 dual marking, and the destination documentation. Do not leave a supplier to infer the wet rating from the product name.
Compare the TGS THHN configurations for the available reference size tables. State the required conductor resistance, nominal dimensions, test documents and marking for the exact order. Reference tables and illustrations guide the enquiry; the agreed drawing and approved specification define production.
Manufacturing in Vietnam with TGS
TGS Cable Industrial is a large manufacturing group producing wire and cable in Vietnam. The group has served Costco, Walmart, Target and many other customers for more than five years. That company-wide experience informs our work with importers, distributors and retail supply programmes. For your THHN enquiry, our factory team reviews the construction, destination requirements, quantities and packing before confirming the order.

Frequently asked questions
Is THHN the same as THWN-2?
They are distinct designations. One wire may carry both markings, but the wet-location performance must be supported by the actual product rating and documentation.
Does stranded THHN carry more current than solid THHN?
Do not choose ampacity from stranding alone. Conductor size, installation, ambient conditions, applicable wiring rules and terminal limitations determine circuit selection.
Technical references
Manufacturer references explain the representative cable family and construction. They do not certify a TGS product. The agreed order drawing, product marking and applicable approval documents define the supplied cable.
