For a compact portable lead, adding more voltage rating is not always the only design consideration. SJOOW is a 300 V junior-service flexible cord family used where its electrical and mechanical duty fit the equipment. A clear buying brief helps compare its dimensions, handling and assembly requirements with SOOW.

Inside the cable
A typical SJOOW cord contains flexible copper conductors with individual thermoset insulation and an oil-resistant overall jacket. Exact metals and jacket materials vary by product. The selected yellow-jacket reference for the article imagery uses tinned copper and a specifically identified earth core; other SJOOW constructions use black jackets and bare copper. Those visual differences should be treated as reference-specific features, not universal rules for the family.

Where it is used
SJOOW enquiries commonly involve portable lights, tools, equipment leads and extension assemblies within the applicable 300 V duty. An equipment maker may need prepared lengths, while a distributor may need reels in several core counts and sizes. Identify whether the order is bulk cable or a finished cord set, since the plug, socket and strain relief introduce additional specifications.

Ratings and selection points
The J distinguishes the 300 V junior family from 600 V SOOW. OO indicates oil resistance of insulation and jacket; environmental limits still come from the selected product. Outdoor or water-resistant marking does not mean unrestricted submersion. Temperature limits, cold flexibility, conductor class and connector compatibility also require review. A cable that fits the electrical load may still be unsuitable for frequent movement or rough mechanical handling.

A clearer factory RFQ
For a 300 V portable lead, list AWG, core count, insulation identification, jacket colour and final length. Define the equipment environment and any oil, water or low-temperature exposure. If comparing a yellow tinned-copper version with a black bare-copper offer, ask the supplier to explain the construction and approval differences rather than compare price alone.
Compare the TGS SJOOW configurations for the available reference size tables. State the required conductor resistance, nominal dimensions, test documents and marking for the exact order. Reference tables and illustrations guide the enquiry; the agreed drawing and approved specification define production.
Manufacturing in Vietnam with TGS
TGS Cable Industrial is a large manufacturing group producing wire and cable in Vietnam. The group has served Costco, Walmart, Target and many other customers for more than five years. That company-wide experience informs our work with importers, distributors and retail supply programmes. For your SJOOW enquiry, our factory team reviews the construction, destination requirements, quantities and packing before confirming the order.

Frequently asked questions
Must SJOOW have a black jacket?
No. Jacket colour is a product and order choice. The type designation does not mandate that every representative construction looks identical.
Can SJOOW replace SOOW on a 600 V requirement?
No. A 300 V junior cord does not meet a 600 V requirement. The complete cable and finished assembly must match the specified duty.
Technical references
Manufacturer references explain the representative cable family and construction. They do not certify a TGS product. The agreed order drawing, product marking and applicable approval documents define the supplied cable.
