For Canadian-market residential cable, the difference between a clear specification and a vague one often appears in the ground size and insulation system. NMD90 is a nonmetallic sheathed wiring family with several recognized constructions. Buyers should order the particular version their customer needs, rather than treat the name as a complete drawing.

Inside the cable

The representative nylon version shown here contains insulated copper circuit conductors, a bare copper bonding conductor and an overall PVC jacket. The circuit insulation is PVC with a thin nylon covering. Other NMD90 constructions use a different approved insulation system, so this feature must be identified in the technical brief. A 14/2-with-bond version has two insulated conductors plus the bare bond; larger configurations can differ in shape and stranding.

Where it is used

The selected manufacturer reference describes exposed work in dry locations and concealed work in dry or damp locations, subject to the applicable Canadian installation requirements. Typical procurement covers residential lighting, receptacle and other permitted branch wiring. Damp concealed use should not be generalized into wet-location or underground permission. NMWU is a separate family for different environmental requirements.

Ratings and selection points

The common reference is 300 V with a maximum conductor temperature of 90°C. That insulation temperature does not by itself set the circuit ampacity or breaker size. Review conductor material, actual insulation system, ground size and configuration-specific dimensions. Jacket colour can support stock identification, but the ordered size and print legend remain the basis for verification. CSA-related claims require the correct manufacturer, product scope and documents.

A clearer factory RFQ

A Canadian wholesale programme might order 14/2, 14/3, 12/2 and 12/3 as separate lines, with the bond specified for each. State the nylon or other approved insulation construction, jacket colours, reel lengths and quantities. Ask the factory for drawings and packing dimensions corresponding to the same approved revision.

Compare the TGS NMD90 configurations for the available reference size tables. State the required conductor resistance, nominal dimensions, test documents and marking for the exact order. Reference tables and illustrations guide the enquiry; the agreed drawing and approved specification define production.

Manufacturing in Vietnam with TGS

TGS Cable Industrial is a large manufacturing group producing wire and cable in Vietnam. The group has served Costco, Walmart, Target and many other customers for more than five years. That company-wide experience informs our work with importers, distributors and retail supply programmes. For your NMD90 enquiry, our factory team reviews the construction, destination requirements, quantities and packing before confirming the order.

Frequently asked questions

Does every NMD90 cable use XLPE insulation?

No. Recognized constructions include the PVC-and-nylon version illustrated here. Use the selected manufacturer drawing and product documents to identify the actual insulation system.

Is NMD90 an underground cable?

The NMD90 reference described here is not a wet-location or underground cable. Review a suitable underground-rated family for that route.

Technical references

Manufacturer references explain the representative cable family and construction. They do not certify a TGS product. The agreed order drawing, product marking and applicable approval documents define the supplied cable.
