A cable tray can carry several very different cable constructions. Type TC identifies a tray-cable family, while conductor insulation, shielding and jacket requirements still need to be specified. For industrial buyers, the useful starting point is the circuit and route rather than the tray label alone.

Inside the cable
The representative Belden construction used here contains six stranded bare-copper conductors with PVC insulation, nylon coverings and an overall PVC jacket. It is unshielded. Other TC products use different conductor counts, thermoset insulation or optional shielding systems. A foil-and-drain arrangement must not be added to every TC illustration simply because some control cables are shielded. The drawing should identify each layer and the conductor colour code.

Where it is used
TC enquiries concern power and control circuits in cable trays and other permitted wiring systems in industrial plants and commercial facilities. The same family can include simple unshielded equipment-control cable and constructions designed for more specific electrical or environmental needs. An instrumentation circuit with interference concerns should state its signal and shield requirements instead of relying on a generic control-cable description.

Ratings and selection points
TC alone should not be treated as TC-ER. Exposed-run permission needs the appropriate additional rating and installation conditions. Wet, sunlight, burial, oil and flame performance are also product-specific. The selected Belden 28615A reference is rated 90°C wet and dry; other tray-cable constructions can have different limits, so verify the exact product. Check voltage, core count and measured dimensions against the exact part or drawing being compared.

A clearer factory RFQ
For a six-core equipment-control order, state conductor size, six individually identified cores, insulation system, overall jacket and whether shielding is required. Describe tray, conduit and any final equipment transition. Add reel lengths and environmental requirements. If the route requires exposed-run capability, specify TC-ER explicitly and request the corresponding evidence.
Compare the TGS TC configurations for the available reference size tables. State the required conductor resistance, nominal dimensions, test documents and marking for the exact order. Reference tables and illustrations guide the enquiry; the agreed drawing and approved specification define production.
Manufacturing in Vietnam with TGS
TGS Cable Industrial is a large manufacturing group producing wire and cable in Vietnam. The group has served Costco, Walmart, Target and many other customers for more than five years. That company-wide experience informs our work with importers, distributors and retail supply programmes. For your TC enquiry, our factory team reviews the construction, destination requirements, quantities and packing before confirming the order.

Frequently asked questions
Is all TC cable shielded?
No. The six-core construction illustrated here is unshielded. Overall foil, drain wire or individually shielded circuits are separate construction choices.
Does TC mean the cable can run exposed anywhere?
No. Ordinary TC and TC-ER are distinct ratings, and exposed-run applications remain subject to the required installation conditions.
Technical references
Manufacturer references explain the representative cable family and construction. They do not certify a TGS product. The agreed order drawing, product marking and applicable approval documents define the supplied cable.
