The last section between a tray and a machine often determines which cable rating a project needs. TC-ER addresses qualifying exposed-run applications, but ER is not something a buyer can verify from a jacket photograph. The rating and the installation conditions need to travel together through the RFQ.

Inside the cable

TC-ER can share its basic construction with other tray cables: insulated copper conductors assembled under an overall jacket, with shielding only when specified. The selected representative has six bare-copper stranded cores, PVC insulation with nylon coverings and a black PVC jacket, without a foil screen. Its exposed-run performance is established through the appropriate evaluation and marking, not a visibly different armour layer.

Where it is used

Industrial buyers consider TC-ER for permitted transitions from cable tray to equipment and other qualifying power or control routes. These applications can simplify the physical route when the complete wiring method allows it. The buyer should describe the actual transition, exposure to damage, support and equipment entry rather than ask for a cable that can simply be installed without conduit everywhere.

Ratings and selection points

The ER suffix does not remove installation restrictions or establish continuous-flex duty. Verify the selected voltage, conductor temperature limits, impact/crush performance and relevant product documents. Additional sunlight, burial, oil, flame or hazardous-location requirements must be specified separately where needed. A general TC datasheet or a visually similar sample is insufficient evidence for an exposed-run requirement.

A clearer factory RFQ

For a tray-to-equipment control run, list AWG, core count, colours, shield requirement, jacket and the explicit TC-ER rating. Describe the environment, required unsupported or supported sections for engineering review and connector requirements. Ask for the exact product legend and supporting documents before accepting a lower-cost TC alternative.

Compare the TGS TC-ER configurations for the available reference size tables. State the required conductor resistance, nominal dimensions, test documents and marking for the exact order. Reference tables and illustrations guide the enquiry; the agreed drawing and approved specification define production.

Manufacturing in Vietnam with TGS

TGS Cable Industrial is a large manufacturing group producing wire and cable in Vietnam. The group has served Costco, Walmart, Target and many other customers for more than five years. That company-wide experience informs our work with importers, distributors and retail supply programmes. For your TC-ER enquiry, our factory team reviews the construction, destination requirements, quantities and packing before confirming the order.

Explore our Vietnam factory production capability, or send your cable specification to discuss a factory quotation. Product approvals and customer-specific requirements are reviewed for the selected construction and programme.

Frequently asked questions

Can TC-ER be identified visually?

Its construction may look the same as a related TC cable. Verify the exposed-run rating through the actual marking and product documentation.

Is TC-ER a continuous-flex cable?

The exposed-run rating does not establish repeated-flex life. Moving machinery or cable-chain service requires a separately suitable construction and motion specification.

Technical references

Manufacturer references explain the representative cable family and construction. They do not certify a TGS product. The agreed order drawing, product marking and applicable approval documents define the supplied cable.
